Which M18 charger for which pack

Milwaukee ships three charger classes — standard, rapid and super — and publishes a separate full-recharge time for each on every pack. So the useful question is not whether a charger works with a pack. It is how long it takes, and whether the faster charger is worth paying for.

Every figure below is Milwaukee’s own, read from each pack’s product page. A published recharge time states both that the pairing works and what you get from it. Where a pack publishes no time, we leave it unknown rather than assume one.

The finding worth acting on

On smaller packs, the super charger is no faster than the rapid charger. Milwaukee publishes identical times for both on every pack at 5 Ah and below — 48-11-1820, 48-11-1828, 48-11-1840, 48-11-1850, 48-11-1850R. If those are the packs you own, the cheaper charger is the right buy and the premium buys nothing.

Above that the gap opens sharply. On 48-11-1861, 48-11-1865, 48-11-1881, 48-11-1813 the super charger beats the rapid, and against a standard charger the difference reaches 5.4×. On the largest pack that is the difference between a long break and most of a working day.

Capacity is not the whole story. Two 6.0 Ah packs here differ on the super charger, because the newer cell chemistry accepts a faster charge — so compare the rows rather than assuming amp-hours decide it.
